The Municipality of Egedal has decided to strengthen the energy requirements for a new settlement to be erected in the municipality. More than 400 dwellings, a kindergarten and an activity centre for elderly people will be designed and constructed with a heating energy consumptions and an overall primary energy consumption better than what is required for a low energy class 1 building according to the newest Danish Building regulation.
The CLASS 1 project is an EU-supported project under the CONCERTO programme. A CONCERTO project combines:

• Energy savings and renewable energy
• Research, development and demonstration
• Participation from various countries
• Education and dissemination
